Tastylia, Tadalafil Oral Strip I’ve finally succumbed to the winter cold. I’ve been really proud of my immune system this winter, keeping me well whilst everyone around was ill. But finally it got me!
go site I try and give in to it when I’m not well but I find being ill and a Mum of two little ones hard. Days 1 and 2 I did manage to do exactly what I’d set out to do, give in to it, just let it be, after all it will pass.
But day 3! By day 3 I was frustrated and longing for a fairy godmother to look after me, rather than me look after everyone else.
A fairy godmother to bring me a turmeric latte, to cook for me, to tuck me into bed and say “don’t worry dear, I’ve got this, you just rest”!
Instead day 3 was home with both children, keeping a 2 (nearly 3 year old) occupied whilst my husband took our boy to a party. Trying to rest in between tidying, feeding the kids and cooking myself some food to nourish me. By day 4 I had no choice but to take to my bed and it turns out my husband became my fairy godmother, running around after me and the kids!
But the bottom line it is hard, it’s hard not being able to be there for the kids, trying to look after yourself as well as them and actually just feeling awful.
Here are some things that may help if you’re feeling ill.
Don’t fight it
Sometimes we can fight against being ill, keep going and end up either feeling worse or prolonging the illness. So don’t fight it, just let it be and see what happens.
I know this is tricky when you have kids, but get an early night, go to bed when the kids go to bed. Sleep when the little ones sleep, if they still sleep in the day and perhaps negotiate a lie in! Rest and sleep are the number one things that will help you get well.
Ask for help
This is really important. I know as Mums we can try and do it all, we try and carry on. But ask for help and be really clear about what you need from your other half, or those around you. Perhaps you can get some help from a friend or a parent. I’m very grateful for my friend for helping me out with the school run these past couple of days and my husband for running around after me!
Another one that can be hard when you’re feeling poorly but I urge you to make that little effort to eat well (or even better get someone to cook for you). A nice nourishing soup does wonders when you’re poorly and actually can take little effort. The picture is of the green smoothie I made yesterday with extra immune boosting nutrients including root ginger and fresh turmeric.
Get lots of fluids in you. Keep drinking, this can help things pass through and it’s important to keep yourself hydrated. A nice hot lemon and ginger and lots of good old fashioned water.
Dose up on Vitamin C
There are some studies that show vitamin C can shorten the life of a cold. I always recommend getting the advice of a registered nutritional therapist if you’re taking supplements, you need to be careful with vitamin C as too much can irritate the gut.
Leave what doesn’t need doing. I really didn’t need to do the tidying yesterday, just leave what doesn’t need doing for when you’re feeling a bit better. And if you can go one further, just take to your bed and rest, again I know that’s tricky. I’ve cancelled all my clients tomorrow so I can rest and try and shake what I’ve got.
Watch your kids
There’s always so much we can learn from our little ones. Two things here. First of all have you noticed when they’re ill they generally don’t move, they just lie there, they rest, they’re not trying to do the washing or anything else. Secondly, even though I’ve been feeling dreadful, watching them giggle has made me smile – smiling and laughing is always good medicine.
Remember it will pass
You won’t feel like this forever, it will pass. Just look after yourself in the meantime.
