Hello, it’s me, Nicky. Remember me? I’m the one you used to hang around with, the one that used to answer texts and respond to phone calls … I think I may have actually made phone calls too! The one that used to pop round at the drop of hat just to say hello. The one that you used to go out with. The one that you shared a bottle of wine with over dinner and some great conversation. And I was even known to go out dancing every now and then!
And then I had children, 2 of them! And despite them being 2 and 5 now, I’m still trying to find my new normal. My new normal where I have children and I still catch up with my friends a bit more regularly than once or twice a year, and I mean without the kids, just us friends!
And responding to texts for some reason is tricky, don’t ask me why! I think it’s in the juggle of work, kids and family – but no excuses.
So this is a note to say sorry. Sorry for all the texts that I haven’t responded to (or it’s taken me ages to respond to!) and the phone calls I haven’t made. For the times we haven’t got together.
And this year I want this to change, I want to see you, to catch up, preferably over a bottle of wine. So hold me to that.
