If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know that I love a smoothie. In fact I love smoothies and juices for the pure fact that they’re packed full of nutrients. I experiment a lot with recipes; the great thing about smoothies is you can throw just about anything in them from spinach, to seeds, to coconut water and cucumber! I can’t deny that green smoothies are the king of smoothies, full of nutrients but my favourite smoothies usually involve berries of some kind.

Each month I’ll be showcasing a new smoothie or juice recipe for you to try. For the first month, I’m giving you my smoothie recipe that I’ve depended on for years now, so easy and so nutritious. Here’s my ‘go-to berry smoothie’, I hope you enjoy!

1 cup of frozen berries (I use a combination of blueberries and strawberries)
1/2 cup of oats
1 tablespoon of ground chia seeds or ground linseeds
1 tablespoon of pumpkin seeds
1 tablespoon of sunflower seeds
1 scoop of protein powder (I use a variety of protein powders, you want a good quality protein powder)
1-2 cups of almond milk to blend (use rice milk if you are allergic to nuts, ensure your milk doesn’t have any added sweetener)

Optional – 1 heaped teaspoon of maca (this gives it a lovely malt-like taste to your smoothie)
